The Grand Canal House
This spacious and authentic Amsterdam canal house is stretched out over 4 floors. All floors come with wooden flooring and wooden beamed ceilings. The entrance is at the ground floor, from here two flight of stairs lead to the first floor where the spacious open plan kitchen and living area is situated.
Apartment Information
The apartment
Three large windows at the front offer a view over the Flower Market. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge and all necessary kitchen utensils to prepare your own in house breakfast, lunch and dinner. The large wooden dining table can seat a total of 8 persons.
At the back side of the first floor there is a bedroom fitted with a comfortable double bed and flat screen TV. A separate toilet is in the hallway.
Another flight of stairs lead to the second floor of the house. At the front side of this floor the TV/living room is located. A perfect area to relax and linger in the extra large comfortable sofa and fauteuils and watch some television, a movie or play a videogame on the PlayStation 3, all with the luxury of a large flat screen TV.
Also on this floor is a spacious bedroom fitted with one single bed and flat screen TV. Next to this bedroom is the first bathroom. This fresh and tidy bathroom comes with shower/bath, separate shower and sink. A separate toilet is in the hallway.
The third floor of the The Grand Canal House features two bedrooms and the second smaller bathroom. The bedroom at the front comes with a comfortable double bed and flatscreen TV. The bedroom at the back is fitted with one single bed, a flatscreen TV and provides access to a balcony. The bathroom features a separate shower and sink. Next to the bathroom is a separate toilet.
A small steep and narrow ladder leads to the attic of the canal house. The front of the attic still features the enormous original wooden pick up wheel which was once used to hoist goods inside from the boats and cars. Two single beds are placed at the back of the attic. Due to the wooden beams the maximum height of the attic is 1.90 meter. Because of the steep and narrow stairs the attic is less suitable for small children, elderly or infirm.
The apartment has easy access to public transport from and to Amsterdam Central Station.
Important Information
The apartment features multiple open and fairly steep stairs which makes the apartment less suitable for young children, elderly or infirm.

Location Information
The apartment is located in the centre of Amsterdam, right at the Canal Belt, a UNESCO World Heritage. Probably the image most associated withthe city of Amsterdam is that of elegant gabled mansions richly decorated and beautifully laid out, facing water canals lined with trees. The crescent-shaped rings of man made waterways, Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Prinsengracht, called the Grachtengordel in Dutch, were built around the old heart of town during the 17th century's Dutch Golden Age.
The The Grand Canal House is direcly on the the only floating flower market in the world so it's one of the sweetest smelling places of Amsterdam. The flower stalls stand on houseboats and whatever your favourite flower, you are bound to find it here. Also it is just off the Reguliersdwarsstraat, which has excellent restaurants and lively bars nearby which attracts a mixed bunch of both hip straights and gays.
Rembrandtplein is around the corner as well as the famous Art Deco Tuschinski theatre. It is easy to find many means of public transport, specially trams, there are also buses and taxis, but then again, you are in a privilege position to access the endless display of hot spots around town. Art museums, theatre and architecture are all part of the Amsterdam scene and simply walking through the colourful neighbourhoods offers an exceptional cultural experience.
Terms and Conditions
Cancellation Policy
- The pre payment is non-refundable at any time, not even in case of force majeure.
- Bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks before the start of the stay will be charged with 50% of the balance due.
- Bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before the start of the stay or cancellation without prior notice "no-show";100% of the balance due will be charged.
- Cancellations must be made by 12 midday CET (Central European Time) on the appropriate day.
The apartment provider reserves the right to cancel or alter the booking if:
- If the guest(s) are not able to pay the online payment and/or remaining balance upon arrival.
- If the guest(s) are not able to show their passport, id card or drivers license upon arrival.
- If the guest(s) are not able to provide a security deposit in form of a valid credit card.
- The apartment(s) or part of it is closed due to circumstances beyond its control.
- It prejudices the reputation or causes or might cause in the apartment providers opinion, damage to the apartments and its common areas.
- The apartment provider becomes insolvent or enters into liquidation or receivership.
The apartment provider will not be liable for any delay, loss, damage or expenses incurred if your booking needs to be altered or cancelled or the apartment provider is unable to perform the contractual obligations as a result of events beyond his reasonable control, which shall include but not be limited to events such as war, civil strife, terrorist activity, labour disputes, natural or man-made disaster, fire, flood, adverse weather conditions or change of local government laws.
In any of these circumstances the apartment provider will refund any payments made in advance, but will have no further liability to the Client.
If the apartment provider receives serious complaints or any disputes arise, he reserves the right to terminate your stay without notice and refunding payments.
Limitation of Liability
The apartment provider shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damage that may arise as a consequence of the client's use of the apartment, including without limitation, damages, insurance, losses because of fire, robbery or criminal behaviour.
Occupants
Only persons notified to the apartment provider upon arrival may occupy the apartment. You may not re-let/sublet the apartment to any other third party without our prior written approval. The number of persons permitted to occupy the apartment is limited to the number of beds available and this limit may not be exceeded without our prior written approval. The apartment provider reserves the right to refuse admittance to the apartment if this condition is not complied with.
Fair Use
You and your party agree to be considerate tenants and to take good care of the apartment(s) and to leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of your stay. Except in the case of normal wear and tear you are responsible for any damage to the apartment or its contents during your stay, which has occurred due to the negligence, wilful default or irresponsible behaviour on the part of yourself or those occupying the apartment or their guests. Any damage must be reported to the apartment provider, without delay. You and your party also agree not to act in any way that could cause disturbance to the residents in neighbouring properties.
Alcohol, Drugs & Tobacco
The use of drugs and abuse of alcohol is strictly prohibited on the premises. The use and possession of hard drugs is illegal and anyone suspected of either will be reported to the Police. In some apartments smoking inside is allowed, this is stated on the website. It is not allowed to smoke marihuana inside the apartments.
