DeLaStage Apartments Review
Some of the ShortStayApartment.com team members have just come back from a short break in Amsterdam. We have taken the opportunity to personally check out and review the DeLaStage Apartments
The DeLaStage apartments are based in a modern building near the Waterloopleinmetro station (the second metro stop from the Central Railway Station), which is a great starting point to visit the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam, the Jodenbuurt.

Location
These are various size apartments based in a modern building near the Waterlooplein metro station (the second metro stop from the Central Railway Station), which is a great starting point to visit the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam, the Jodenbuurt. This part of the city is quite modern and the architecture of the building is in line with the style of the surrounding area.
Home cooking or restaurants
The area is also served by shops and restaurants. Just around the corner is a supermarket called Albert Heijn where you can do your food shopping until 10 p.m. and it is open on Sundays. The meat is excellent in Holland and since the apartments are fully equipped with a fridge and Smeg kitchen (with a extra-wide gas cooker, oven and grill), we enjoyed home cooked dishes. Tip: Remember that foreign credit cards are not accepted at the supermarket or many other shops in Amsterdam.

Transport
We found that one of the main advantages of this location is its accessibility: it can be reached by underground, tram, bus and car and it is just a few minutes’ walk from thecharming canals of Amsterdam, without the inconvenience of having hordes of tourists outside your door. We think these apartments are well suited to business travelers or temporary residents relocating to Amsterdam for a few months, as the building is a short drive from the main international companies’ premises where many expats work, but also a short walk to the centre.
Amsterdam is in fact a very small capital and you can walk from one side of the city to the other in 30 minutes. We walked from the DeLaStage apartments to the Museumplein in just 15 minutes one day; another day we caught the tram (line no. 9 or 14) to Dam Square, which took 2 minutes, and swapped line (no. 1,2, or 5) on the other side of the square towards the Vondelpark, which took about 5 minutes. However we realized that it was not necessary to take trams (one-hour ticket costs 1.60 EUR) and the following day we preferred walking instead. Also, nearby the apartments is a bike rental, which is handy during sunny days.
The Apartments
As soon we walked in the building we noticed that this is a brand new residential building. The marble finishing and full-length-mirror lift make an excellent first impression, so if you are staying in Amsterdam for business and wish to receive some business contacts at your apartment, you are sure to be well represented.
Entering the apartment we noticed that everything was spotless and brand new. All the appliances are from good international brands, which make a real difference in the home away from home experience.

The rooms are very spacious, especially the lounge area with its enormous windows that brighten up the whole living area. At night we enjoyed looking out the window at the city’s lights and in the day the city’s roofs. Thanks to the double glazing we could enjoy a tranquil ambience even at peak hours. Also the wooden floors and walls feel solid and no noise can be heard from the neighbour residents.
The bedrooms are spacious and bright thanks to door-windows opening onto the small balconies and some unusual little square windows spread all over the wall which allow enough light into the room yet grant you privacy even with open curtains. Another modern and practical detail is the moving wardrobes on wheels. You can move these modular wardrobes from one room to the other as you see fit.
The design bathroom, with its 2 sinks is ideal for couples – it can make you save a lot of time in the morning – and the walk-in shower is a real treat. A typically Dutch feature is the separate toilet from the main bathroom, which we found very practical too. The professional washing machine and dryer, located outside the apartment in the main building, are available to all guests.
The Management
Even though the apartments are not serviced, in the way that there is no room service or daily cleaning, the on-site management is present during office hours (9:00 to 17:00), which is extremely handy if you have any queries about the apartment – like bulb replacing for instance – or need advice on where to go and what to do in Amsterdam. The cleaning service is scheduled to be carried out twice a week so we did not worry about cleaning at all during the whole stay.
General overview
Decidedly modern and medium-term oriented apartments with the best of both – apartments and hotels – thanks to its management, amenities and the ideal location.
