The city is divided in seven areas which are: the City centre, the South area (Zuid), the East area (Oost), the West area (Oud West), the South East area (Zuid-Oost), the Diemen and the North area (Noord). If you are a tourist you should know that Amsterdam has plenty different touristics areas named by their location or by a representative icon of the zone. The city center includes two zones: the historical centre and the Jordaan Area. The historical centre is also formed of two areas: the Nieuwe Zijde (The new part of Amsterdam) and The Oude Zijde (The old part of Amsterdam).
