VondelPark Amsterdam
For a breath of fresh air after visiting the museum quarter you can take a walk through the Vondelpark nearby. The best time to stroll through is in full spring or summer, when the park is in full bloom and local Amsterdammers fill it with live concerts, theatre and dance performances. The park is quite large (120 acre) so be sure you want a decent walk if you decide to pass through it, although respite can be found in the centre of the park at the Het Blauwe Theehuis coffee-shop, or in the Nederlands Filmmuseumat the Vertigo cafe with its open air terrace. The Vondelpark was designed by the two architects J.D. and L.P. Zocher in 1865.
