
Istanbul Gastronomy Festival
In past years, Turkish cuisine has seen a huge rise in its number of adepts. This comes as no surprise taking into account the mixture of flavours and tastes that this cuisine uses. Turkish people know how to expose their tasty dishes, so every visitor that had the opportunity to indulge into its rich plates, develops a gastronomic passion for them.
A few years ago, Turkey has decided to share the secrets of its cuisine with whoever may be interested in them and to promote the chefs responsible for such tasty dishes across the world. Therefore the Istanbul Gastronomy Festival was founded. This festival has the main purpose of getting Turkish cuisine on the same international level as other ones around the world. Turkey wants to establish a closer relation with other famous international cuisines and at the same time to promote its traditional values.
The Festival, which will be held during the 18th and the 21st of March, is organized this year by the All Cook Federation. The organizers of this year’s festival have arranged the categories of the competition in order to make it appealing not only to chefs around the world, but also to curious visitors or gastronomy lovers. The categories are organized into a structure that allows everyone to compete for a prize, from experienced chefs to beginners or simply amateurs of the kitchen.
The festival has three types of categories in which contestants can compete: practical, display and team. The practical and the display category have other two subcategories: senior and junior that allow a wider range of participants to compete. The team category has also two subcategories: practical and display. Participants will have the chance to share with visitors and the jury those dishes that they do best while competing with other colleagues from the same branch. The contestants will measure their talent in categories that will allow them to cook everything, from simple dishes, such as pasta, to more complicated and time-consuming like celebratory cakes.
Though no information about the jury of the competition is available yet, we expect to see famous names that will give the festival a boost among gastronomy professionals around the world.
We recommend anyone visiting Istanbul during the festival have a glimpse at the delicious and spectacular plates which will be exposed. Make lots of pictures and please share them with us since unfortunately we are not going to be able to attend the event this year.
